Viticulture

From Monvigliero vineyard, in Verduno. This 1.5 ha. vineyard was planted at 300 m.asl., and dates back to 1975 and 1990. Under half a hectare in size (.30 Ha). Soil content is a rich blend of sand (30%) clay (55%) and chalk (15%), also known locally as 'Marne di Sant'Agata'. South-westerly exposure.

Vinification

Hand-harvested in early October. Grapes are laid down in slatted fruit-boxes to be able to select only the best bunches. The maceration process takes place in 'tini' (open-top wooden vats), for 30 days. Grapes are then macerated for 30 days in wooden barrels. Matured in barrels of Slavonian oak for 20 months, and then in steel tanks for 1 month. Finally, aged in bottle for 26 months before release.
