La Riva dei Frati

Region: Veneto

History

The name “La Riva dei Frati” refers to a vineyard once cultivated by local Dominican friars, running by the banks of the river Piave. This is the area where the vines grow, next to the forgotten abbey on a steep slope.
This estate was founded by Cesare and Marisa Adami, who entered the world of wine in 1992. Paolo Berton is their enologist.

Estate

Situated between the foot of the Alps, the Adriatic and the river Piave, the area makes for excellent grape growing, being ideally located on hills with plenty of sunshine, sufficient rainfall and an optimal (mild) temperature range all year round. Here, the vines grow at altitudes between 50 and 500 meters above sea level
The winery consists of one estate in Cornuda, with more vineyards in Santo Stefano di Valdobbiadene and Col San Martino where they specialise in the production of Procecco, from the grape Glera. The Prosecco DOCG production area covers the territory of 15 municipalities and extends from the hills to the river Piave, from Conegliano to Valdobbiadene.
Riva dei Frati’s production transpires in their 1200 square meter cellar where their tanks hold a total capacity of 2,000 hectolitres.
